Maltalinks was originally conceived in 2002 as an innovation company that will focus on solving complex R&D problems, selling innovative products abroad developed at a lower cost in Malta. Simultaneously, Maltalinks will use the Maltese market as a test bed for certain products and concepts, mainly to demonstrate its technology in a small controlled environment.

Our research in has leaded us, amongst other achievements, to the development of an innovative search engine specifically targeted at searching large digitised document archives. The system processes and archives the material using an OCR engine while performing image compression on scanned images. The scanned text is marked up in XML format and indexed in parallel. The search results utilise the OCR data to return relevant portions of the scanned images, rather than text. This result format allows for the relevant page snippet to be displayed in high resolution to allow for verification of the search relevance.

We are dedicated to building a Euro-Mediterranean network of excellence aiming at bringing together SMEs, institutions and independent professionals specialising in the various areas related to ICT, Sales and Marketing, Accountancy and Business Strategy. The goal is to provide a repository of expertise and talent which can be easily referred to by its members and others when embarking into various projects.

We are currently conducting research on automated information extraction techniques, and are continuously on the lookout for new opportunities in business and research, building partnerships and participating in projects in which our expertise may be of significant help.
